Reference
Commands, shortcuts and the data Ginu keeps.
What this page covers
OutcomeFind a command or file location and understand its scope before using it.
Before you beginUse the command menu for current actions, and keep a copy of any data you intend to preserve.
Follow these steps
Use the app’s Commands menu for the current command list, and Settings → Shortcuts for the keyboard actions it registers.
Check standing permission grants with
/permissions. Clearing conversation data does not revoke them.Settings → Data shows the agreement you accepted and the usage-reporting switch, and lets you re-run the import of instructions and memory from another CLI, with a Revert for each import.
Example
/permissions
Inspect the standing permission grants before deciding whether any should change. Removing conversation data is a different operation.
Use the reference as a lookup
The lists below are organised by command, keyboard action and stored data. Start with the thing you want to do, then check the argument and scope rather than running a command just because it is nearby.
Clearing conversation data does not revoke standing permissions. Raw audio is not normally saved. The files on disk are not encrypted by Ginu; disk encryption is a separate control.
Session commands
Type these into the message box. Your build’s own menu is the full list; this page leaves out the diagnostic and display-tuning commands.
/voice- speaker on — replies are spoken again
/text- speaker off — replies are written, not spoken
/help- every command and key
/quit- stop the session
/model [tier]- switch the main model — alone, cycles (ctrl-O)
/permission [mode]- CLI permission mode — alone, cycles (ctrl-P)
/mute [on|off]- named-only — "hey Ginu" wakes it
/unmute- mic fully back on — the guaranteed way out of mute
/pause [on|off]- hold the conversation — deaf, silent, nothing delivered; work continues
/unpause- resume — the guaranteed way out of pause
/pausereports [on|off]- hold background task news until you ask; the conversation keeps going
/resumereports- hear what queued up — the guaranteed way out
/owner [enrol|off|on|reset]- owner detection — status · enrol (record a voiceprint) · off/on (guest mode, this session) · reset (delete it)
/rate [value|faster|slower|reset]- speaking rate — number, faster/slower, or reset
/volume [value|louder|quieter|reset]- speaking volume — number, louder/quieter, or reset
/workercap [n]- how many tasks may run at once — raising it costs tokens and attention
/swap- rebuild the conversation from a written handover — status, or arm one
/new- start a clean conversation — new id, nothing carried over
/permissions [grant|revoke <class>]- standing grants and parked asks — grant/revoke <class>
/remote <duration>|off- open remote access for a duration, or "off" — no default
/approve- approve the waiting permission ask
/deny- refuse the waiting permission ask
/always [all]- approve the waiting ask AND stop being asked — for that one tool, or `all` for every tool from its MCP server
/tour [first-run|whats-new|next|back|skip|end|status]- guided tour — first-run · whats-new · next · back · skip · end · status
/incognito [on|off]- this session writes nothing — no transcript, no notes, no logs, no learning; agents still work

Files on your computer
~/.Ginu/vault- Memory, projects, products and editable extension definitions. A git repository you own.
~/.Ginu/tasks,stateandnotes- Worker task records, session snapshots, continuity notes and greetings.
~/.Ginu/worktrees- Agents’ working copies of your repositories. Review and clean them through git.
- Transcripts and logs
- The transcript directory and diagnostic logs can contain conversation text and permission decisions. Review them before sharing.
- Voice state and caches
- Learned speaking rhythm, the owner voiceprint, acoustic measurements and cached spoken phrases.
- Permissions and secrets
- Standing grants, device credentials and saved preferences are kept separately from conversation records. Revoke or rotate these deliberately.
Notes
- Your data lives on your computer, under a Ginu folder in your home directory, plus the transcript folder. Ginu does not encrypt these files; disk encryption is a separate control.
- Raw audio is not normally saved.
- Permission and conversation logs can contain sensitive text. Review their contents before sharing them.
Check
Before you delete anything, you know what it holds and whether you need to keep a copy first.
